Meeting called to order by Emma Larson, President

Kate Sies, Secretary

Committee Reports

*Note: If new people attending tonight’s meeting want to know more about any committee, please don’t hesitate to contact the committee chairs. I will be listing all of the e-mail addresses at the end of this document.

Technology Chair (Phill Winecke)

·        Meeting minutes and agendas are now posted on the website and will be posted on a weekly basis. This weeks’ minutes will be put onto the website after they are sent out tonight J

K-Family Chair (Phill Winecke)

·        Normal K meeting will be this Thursday (8/30) from 7-8 a.m. To those that it applies to, you will be back in time for an 8 a.m. class. Bloomington K for next Monday (Labor Day) is cancelled but we will be going the following Monday (9/11). More information and a sign up sheet will be available at our next meeting (9/5).

            Scrapbook Chair (Anne Schneider)

·        Scrapbook co-chair is still needed to help create our scrapbook which will be presented at this years District Convention (DCON). More information will come later; plans are to start the scrapbook planning and lay-out sometime in October. Contact Anne or e-mail the club account (isucirclek@hotmail.com) if you are interested in becoming a co-chair. If you are interested, you will need to send the club one paragraph stating why you want to be a co-chair and why you would be great for the co-chair position J

            Membership Recruitment (Matt Koenig)

·        The following events are all tentative. Dates and times will be announced later. Here are some of the events Matt hopes to have for this semester J: Tailgating party before a football game, attending football games as a group (the first one is September 9th-see the sign up sheet, or contact Matt if you want to attend and haven’t signed up), having a game night once a month, car wash in October. Matt’s also thinking about planning a club picnic where we can all hang out and have a good time. Possible dates include: 9/16, 9/23, 9/30 (Saturdays). More information to come later! He works at McDonald’s and might be able to have them donate snacks and beverages for an occasional meeting.

            Newsletter (Chuck Norris)

·        As great as Chuck Norris is (and come on.. the man’s a genius), we actually currently do not have a newsletter chair. You would be responsible for creating a monthly newsletter, and would ask club members to write blurbs or short paragraphs about their service and leadership experiences within the club. If you have any questions about it, contact the club or e-mail Susan who was last years’ chair. Emma will try and complete one for this month. If you are interested in helping her, e-mail her (e-mail listed below).

Advisor’s Reports

·        Both our faculty advisor and Kiwanis advisor were absent from tonight’s meeting, but new members-you will get a chance to meet them J

Officer Reports

Treasurer (Danielle Brown)

·        Fundraising: Possible fundraising ideas include: bake sale, Quad clean-up, bagging for tips at Cub Foods, car wash in McDonald’s parking lot.

Interclubs are any activity that we do with another club (it can be another Circle K club, Key Club, Kiwanis Club, Golden Key, etc. but the majority of our members get their interclubs by attending the weekly Kiwanis meetings-Bloomington Kiwanis and Normal Kiwanis). If you have any conflicts in meeting these requirements, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me!

Vice Presidents (Susan Zeiger and Kim Meyers)

Susan

·        College Mentors for Kids: Susan has information regarding College Mentors for Kids. (Monday’s will be cancelled because it’s Labor Day). If you are interested in going, see the sign up sheet or e-mail Susan. You will need to fill out an application to be a volunteer there but you can sign up for a shift and then fill out the application in the car on the drive there J

·        Boys and Girls Picnic w/ Kiwanians: The Kiwanians will be having a picnic with the Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, 9/23 from 10am-1pm at Miller Park. It also included several new service project ideas such as the Bromenn hospital and Habitat for Humanity. More info will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Kim

There’s a volunteer opportunity this Friday (8/25) from 5:15-8:15 p.m. Children are putting together a zoo-themed show and volunteers are needed to help the children learn lines and various dance steps. ·        3 of our club members went to Boston earlier this month for ICON. Our club won 2 awards: we placed second in Club Achievement for the bronze division and second also in Single Service Project for our Safety Fair that we held. Congratulations, everyone J

I would just like to say welcome to the new people at our meeting tonight! I hope you decide to become a part of Circle K. It really is a rewarding experience and you meet lots of new people and have a great time helping out the community. J
